On Becoming A Parent… Nurturing the Child

I received the ultrasound pictures of the latest family member coming into the world soon.

As I studied the tiny human form, I realized each child starts out as what appears to be a form of clay; to be molded into whatever we see in our mind’s eye.

Some parents see grand accomplishments for their child. They see their newborn becoming a super star in music or sports. They perhaps see their newborn as a big-shot lawyer or doctor.

What makes a good parent?

This is not a trick question, but just some food for thought.

Parenting is a difficult and expensive task. Yet, parenting is the most joyous and rewarding part of life, in most cases.

To be responsible for the future of an individual is challenging. Teaching high self-esteem and self confidence to our children does not go unfulfilled.

Should Children Be Taught Cursive Writing In Primary School?

I learned cursive writing in the third grade. I can still visualize the alphabet letters across the top of the blackboard – capital letters, with each small letter version following.

The teacher had us practice writing the cursive on large lined notebook paper.
